Glomerulonephritis Hematuria and Treatment

What is glomerulonephritis hematuria? Hematuria means that there are red blood cells in urine, which can be divided into gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria. Gross hematuria means that with our naked eyes, we can see the urine looks like water where flesh is washed and microscopic hematuria means that with the help of microscopy, we can see more than 3 red blood cells. Why do we say glomerulonephritis hematuria? It is because red blood cells both in gross hematuria and in microscopic hematuria are due to the damage in glomeruli.
Glomeruli are important elements in the renal units or nephrons, which plays an important role. In each glomeruli, there is filtration barrier which includes basilar membrane. And in every basilar membrane, we can see pores, through which, small molecules pass such as creatinine, urea acid and so on. In normal condition, the diameter in basilar membrane is relatively small, through which, red blood cells can not pass. However, when kidney is damaged due to excessive immune response and so on, the intrinsic cells will also be damaged and accordingly, the diameter of pores will become bigger. And in this case, some bigger molecules such as red blood cells will leak out, thus forming hematuria. Strictly speaking, gross hematuria is more serious than microscopic hematuria, as we can get a conclusion from their name.
Many kinds of kidney diseases belong to glomerulonephritis such as lupus nephritis and purpura nephritis. How to treat glomerulonephritis then especially those with hematuria?
