The patients with Nephritic Syndrome(NS) should restrict drinking, because
drinking could result the decline on the synthesis of hepatic glycogen,
especially to the patients with such symptoms as hypertension, nephritic
syndrome, and hyperlipaemia. Excessive drinking could reduce the appetite, thus
reduce the intake of food, thereby result the multiple nutritional deficiencies,
even result the alcoholic cirrhosis for serious case. Moreover, alcohol could
reduce the renal plasma flows and deteriorate the renal functions as well as add
burden to the heart.
Medical research suggests that, more than 90% wine that we drank is
metabolized in liver. Liver has a strong metabolic capacity for alcohol. If we
drink 50ml Maotai vines, namely about 30g alcohol, for the metabolism of it,
liver needs about 46 hours, and moreover, this metabolism for alcohol is at the
cost of itself, because abundant coenzyme I, coenzyme II and cytochrome P450
would be consumed in metabolic process, and the overconsumption of these
substances could result the necrosis of liver cells, furthermore, could make the
liver fibrosis even cirrhosis. These mentioned are just the impairment to liver,
in fact, drinking could nearly harm all the body organs. Longtime drinking could
result anemia, platelet function disorder, various kinds of haemorrhage, which
would result the gastrointestinal malabsorption, nutritional deficiency, and
also lead to hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis, etc. All of those are the harm
to the body. When the balance of the whole body has been destroyed, the damaged
kidney could not get a good external environment that renal recovery needs, so
drinking is very harmful.
Can the patients with NS drink? Surely, a low dose of alcohol has some
certain benefits for the body, such as strengthening the protection capability
against the ultraviolet injury, but here, low dose mean “extremely scarce”: the
amount for alcohol is about several grams per day, and the daily drinking could
not be only this amount, so the volumes are difficult to control. Thereby, for
the sake of their health, the patients would better keep away from the
temptation of “tasty wine”
After the above introduction, we believe that you might have some
understanding about why the patients with NS cannot drink, however, in spite of
that prohibition, these patients can eat more animal proteins such as milk, egg,
lean meat and fish, etc, while eat less on vegetable proteins, for example, bean
products, that is because the utilization rate on vegetable protein is low,
which would aggravate the uremia.
Experts also remind that, the patients with NS should pay attention to
prevent infection, since their body have weak resistance to germs and easily
involve in infection. In addition, keep room’s regular ventilation, and keep
regular bathing and the skin clean, so as to prevent the infection in urinary
system. Meanwhile, have enough relaxation, and take precautions against cold,
especially in the cold –prevailing seasons. If there are any complications, get
a treatment without delay.
