Can Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Eat Bananas

Can patients with chronic kidney disease eat bananas? Bananas as we know, are fruit which taste yummy, delicious and contain kinds of element and nutrition. In addition, it can also help relax bowel, so bananas are very popular among people. What’s more, when some one gets sick, he will also be persuaded to have more fruit such as bananas to recover soon.
However, is it good for patients with Nephrotic Syndrome to eat bananas?
Bananas contain much sodium. Patients with acute nephritis, chronic nephritis, renal insufficiency can not have bananas for it contains much sodium. Especially patients with edema and high blood pressure can not have bananas. Long time having bananas for them can accelerate the edema or high blood pressure. In addition, patients with renal insufficiency can not have bananas,either. What’s more, for those who have dyspepsia and diarrhea, they can not have bananas, either.
Besides bananas, patients with chronic kidney disease should also pay attention to the following aspects:
Firstly, chronic kidney disease patients should control the intake of protein. If the supply of protein is too much, it will produce much nitrogen, which can increase burden to the kidney. Patients with Nephrotic Syndrome are an exception for they lost lots of protein in urine.
Secondly, chronic kidney disease patients should also limit the intake of salt and water. Those with serious edema, high blood pressure and little urine should keep low salt diet. The intake of water should keep at 800-1200ml.At the same time, salted vegetables, pickles, salted eggs and tuber mustard contains much sodium, which also should be limited. If the edema disappears, blood pressure declines, and urine increases, they can also take in salt and the amount should be kept at 2 to 3g per day.
Thirdly, chronic kidney disease patients should have more delicate food which can play roles as diuresis. Food which can play roles as diuresis are such as carp, crucian, ewe’s milk, watermelon, Chinese watermelon, mung bean, red beans and so on.
Fourthly, chronic kidney disease patients should also have food which is rich in vitamin such as fresh fruit and vegetables, both of which can do good to the recover of renal function.
