How Stem cell Treats ESRD stage

In this passage, we will introduce how stem cell therapy treats ESRD, which is short for End Stage of Renal Disease. To explain it clearly, we would like to begin with a true case. “ Hi, I am from Iran, my sister is in ESRD stage, she has just undergone 2 dialysis sessions.

Few days back serum creatinine was up to 14, but after dialysis it has come down to 8. Doctor said her renal function is 10%.”

ESRD means that patients have become to stage 5 of chronic kidney disease. In some countries, it is also called uremia, in this

Stage, the GFR( glomerular filtration rate) has gone down to

less than 15%. In the kidney, there are many damaged

intrinsic cells and even necrotic cells. In the world, stem cells are generally believed to be the best treatment which can

differentiate into cells which have been necrotic and help

recover renal function.

Can patients with ESRD apply stem cell therapy directly? No. As we know, in ESRD, the renal function is damaged seriously.

Kidney has function of filtrating toxins. Many toxins will

accumulate into the body. If we don’t clear them away, stem cell will not survive after injection into human body. In our Hospital, blood purification such as plasma exchange andChinese Medicine are applied.

Plasma exchange can clear away the immune complex, which is especially suitable for kidney patients in particular for those who are diagnosed with lupus nephritis and purpura nephritis. In immunology, most kidney diseases are caused by immune problem.

Then, patients with ESRD will receive Chinese Medicine, which can also improve the blood circulation, including micro-blood circulation, dissolve the blood stasis, and discharge the toxins at the same time. Next, stem cell therapy is applied, which can differentiate into intrinsic cells which have had been necrotic. As we mentioned, in ESRD, there must be a lot of cells becoming necrotic. Only stem cell in the world can solve the problem and Chinese Medicine can only repair the damaged ones.

The combination of the above mentioned methods can help ESRD patients rebuild renal structure and revive renal function. At present, they are all part of immunotherapy in our Hospital.
